Hi Joe,
things are a bit different:
GP is located in the "Moyen" factory as far as production is concerned, otherwise in the "blue building" and Villa Marguerite.
JeanRichard is located mainly in Villa JeanRichard, including the development and administration departments. The assembly takes place in the "Moyen" factory too, but JR does have their own watchmakers. Sometimes they are working together with the GP crew in the same room, so things are not that much "hard and fixed".
The only facilities shared by GP with JR is movement development and Haute Horlogerie; due to the small number of JR tourbillons and repeaters (less than 10-15 per year), it?s something that can?t be done in a separate workshop. So apart from some work being done by Claret, it?s the GP workshop. Still there are some unique developments, like the external fine regulation of the Minute Repetition. That?s unique to JR.
And yes, prices are reasonable.
Frankly, one has to separate the older models which don?t hold up with the latest creations and came with a completely different price tag.
But the 2004/2005 models are pretty elaborate and the Paramount models are a good point at that; i think these are pieces for those who care about style as much as about "inner values". It?s certainly not as elaborate as a Haute Horlogerie watch, but then they are really much more affordable and in this price range, it?s hard to find another watch with a manufactory movement, manufactory case as well as dials and hands of this quality. At least it will take a long time or end up in a model that is made by the 100.000?s per year.
Actually, the JeanRichard models are quite appreciated in Japan (probably the most "picky" and demanding customership besides Europe, so it should say a bit).
Cheers,
Peter
