not so sure about this…

Thanks Andrew for showing us this piece, you are one lucky fellow to try such pieces on your wrist. However, I do have some concerns with the recent developments at GP, even the Hawk like does not 100% convince me:

Here is what I like:
  • the manual movement and finishing, superb
  • the silver dial

and what I don't like:
  • Size, it looks too big for my taste, unlike the 42mm chronograph, this case seems too big
  • Date / month display, much prefer a more symmetric display, like 1966 Full Calendar
  • EOT IMHO is a rather useless complication, Power reserve would be more useful
  • There is an odd break of symmetry on the minute markers, why is marker 3 the size of marker 12 and all others are smaller?
  • finally the to-expected price-tag, while Haute Horology is like Formula 1, I rather would like to see new models and innovations that are for the consumer market, badly missing the Richeville line for example.

Girard-Perregaux 1966 Minute Repeater with Annual Calendar and EOT

 By: AndrewD : January 11th, 2013-04:21
We have been promising big things from GP in 2013 and before we have even recovered from the new year, GP has released an impressive piece of haute horlogerie in the 1966 Minute Repeater with Annual Calendar and EOT. Those of us who fell in love with the ...

I much prefer the " simplicity " of the Minute Repeater " only ".

Much more sober and clean, I find. But it seems that GP will have a great year, this year. Can't wait to see what they will unveil. Best, Nicolas

Although not very fond of the dial's layout, I find the design and architecture of the mouvement very pleasant and interesting, the finish looks (from the picture) quite exquisite toped by the trade mark GP balance cock design and the superb finish...beau...

I much prefer this dial, more contemporary. I've always been a fan of the Annual Calendar dial lay-out. I can't wait to discover it in the metal! Thanks Andrew! Fx

iI find the addition of more complication polluting the stylistic perfection that was the MR. Not convinced much even though the movement is a beauty to behold. Mo

Great looking watch

I think that it's a great looking watch. Like others mentioned, size is a little large, but personally, I prefer 40mm. And, it will be out of my price range in any case, so... As far as EOT being a useless complication. Well, if you really look at it, mec...

Many of you prefer the simplicity of ...

... the original repeater. Without doubt the this watch, with its simple enamel dial, oozes refinement and classicism. The new repeater with annual calendar and EOT is much more modern and edgy. Both are housed in a 42mm case which optimizes sound quality...
