5254 : il mio preferito

Jun 29, 2016,11:03 AM

Ciao
Giuseppe

Do you know when you first bought it?

Yes, in NYC when I was working in there in 1985. There was a man who came in the office

 By: pastaboy1939 : June 25th, 2016-09:19
who sold and repaired watches. He showed it to me and I purchased it. Forgot the price. Still keeps good time.

Very elegant looking watch!

Looks like 1940s Art Deco, similar to the more famous Vintage 1945! Congrats to a very nice watch! Best Blomman

Trying to find another like it.

The gold portion of the watch is fitted over the lugs. Does not state gold anywhere. Will take photos of caseback tomorrow . Thanks.

Possible Gold Filled

The Gold Cap looks quite thick. Cay you find any reference number either on the case back or between the lugs at 6? Best Blomman

G-P Caliber 86

 By: chippytime : June 27th, 2016-08:11
Mine says hello! Supposed to date from 1938, but I'm not so sure - I have an old book that shows similar up to 1950's. Case is all 14ct gold. Keeps good time. Not worn much and is small for my small wrist. Seems G-P had a fashion for hidden lugs. I am at ...

G-P Cal 86 wrist photos

 By: chippytime : June 28th, 2016-00:44
Here are two wrist shots of my very vintage G-P as promised. Note domed crystal. To gauge the size, the strap is 19mm at the lugs. Further delay unfortunately because I will have to search for the book entry and scan the page for tomorrow UK time as I am ...

Thank you!

Book reference to G-P cal 86

 By: chippytime : June 29th, 2016-01:22
Here is a slightly fuzzy picture of the G-P calibre 86 indicating the date as circa 1948. Maybe the watch was in production for a long while from 1938? My book is Complete Price Guide to Watches by Tom Engle, Richard E Gilbert and Cooksey Shugart 2013 (33...

According to GP records the caliber 86 was ...

In production between 1937 - 1955. Most likely this version originates from 1944. Best Blomman
