Live pictures of my favorite 2010 novelty...or THREE. :-)

I had the pleasure of seeing the following pieces in the metal last week.  First up is my favorite from Girard-Perregaux's 1966 Collection, the palladium Small Seconds.

Sorry for all the plastic-covered movement shots!

I absolutely love how Girard-Perregaux incorporates little details into their watches.  The red "60" on the small seconds display is killer!

Next up is a familiar face, with a slightly different color scheme.  Some may recall that I reviewed the beautiful 1966 Full Calendar in rose gold previously (to read the article: click here ).  Earlier this year, Girard-Perregaux released the Full Calendar in brilliant, icy palladium with blue accents.  I think it's an extremely beautiful rendition of the model.

Can one really get tired of the Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges?  The variations seem virtually endless, so it wasn't surprising that 2010 brought us another version.  Still, the watch is lovely in the metal!  It's a stunning, large (41mm, I believe.), round, rose gold beauty.  It screams Girard-Perregaux!

A fellow Purist getting a closer look at the signature bridges.

Lastly, something I have liked from afar was finally available for viewing in the metal.  It's all about the grand feu enamel dial on this Vintage 45 XXL in rose gold.  I love the offset time-display.  Despite all the intersecting displays (small seconds, date, power reserve) the time is easy to read IMO.  I think it is a lovely dial.  The watch is rather large though (36x37mm and 12.9mm thick).  I am so in love with the enamel dial!

Girard-Perregaux ref. 25845-52-741-BA6A, Vintage 45 XXL Off-Centered Hours And Minutes.

What do you think?  Which of these beauties would you like to see on your wrist?  Thanks to Shirley at Girard-Perregaux for being so accommodating with our picture-taking, and to Jean-Louis at Dejaun for introducing us.

Cheers,
Daos

All are beautiful but among all of them, I fear my choice won't be original.

Tourbillon under 3 Goden Bridges... There is another one wich is haunting me, and maybe did you see it? The World Time Tourbillon, with the tourbillon in the case back, a plain dial, with the WT complication, of course, and just a small second at 6. If I ...

I didn't see the world timer tourbillon...

...but the Tourbillon with Three Bridges is quite lovely. A good choice for you, Nicolas! The distinctive tri-bridges cannot be mistaken. The watch is elegant, but also has a certain boldness that is hard to explain. A unique luxury watch. Cheers, Daos

Ok, Daos... I have something for you.

...it is a perfect Vlad watch...world timer, tourbillon, distinctive bridges. Aren't these all things loved by Vlad? LOL! Cheers, Daos

Yes please to all. But if forced to choose one, I would choose the 1945 assuming it fits my wrist. Thanks for the post. Regards, Richard.

The dial on the 1945 XXL is just dreamy.

The sheen and depth of the dial has to be experienced to fully appreciate it. The watch was too large for me, but perhaps you could pull it off! Cheers, Daos

Definitely the 1945

I just love the rectangular case on the 1945. And that dial has enough features to present a "just right" look for a complication - not too simple, and not to congested. Thanks, Daos, for your most informative post. Really enjoyed reading it .

Thanks, Frederick!

The dial on the 45 XXL is so perfectly executed. It could've gone all wrong in presenting all that info. but instead the dial is very harmonious! Thanks for looking! Cheers, Daos

Drooling!!!

Hi, Daos! You and Jed were super lucky to get this private viewing of these stunning watches! DidnĀ“t you just love the micro rotor in the Three Bridge Tourbi? It is a wonderful detail (among a watch filled with them), just to see it swirl underneath one o...

Hola, Alex! Thanks for reading!

I love these 1966 Collection pieces in palladium. The colors are stunning in person. The XXL was too large for me too. If they made that dial in a regular 1945 case I'd be sorely tempted! The Three Bridges tourbis are always lovely to see in the metal! Ch...
