GP Olimpico chronographs (some pictures, a question)

G'day,

just came across this picture of this 1988 GP "Olimpico" chronograph:

This one is basically a ref. 4900 chronograph (ETA/Valjoux 7750 base) with 18K gold case and does have a quite detailed "Breguet-style" dial:

The 1992 Olimpico is much more a sports watch:

And even more the Laureato Olimpico (the first Olimpico with an in-house movement):

As one can see, the GP Olimpico watches do have quite a tradition. And it?s a long one which began somewhere in the 1940?s. As the name unveils, it?s a commemorative watch to celebrate the Olympic Games and therefore, every 4 years a new model is made. Almost all of them are limited editions or limited productions, so they are a bit rare.

Here?s the vintage Olimpico family:

As the next Olympic Games will take place in 2004 (in Athens/Greece), i?m much wondering if there will be a new Olimpico watch. And how will it look like, what movement will it have?
Of course personally i would like to have it an in-house movement; well finished, a nice crystal back and maybe even a complicated watch such as a rattrapante. And not necessarily a round watch. The current Vintage45 chronograph rattrapante is such a nice one, another rectangular/carree chronograph would be quite an unusual addition to the existing model lines.

I?m curious which watch you would like to see as the new Olimpico limited edition? Maybe something completely different?

Greetings from germany,

Peter
