I'm afraid

I have neither a 9014 nor a 9020 (yet). The 9014 is not the greatest GP in my opinion, but the 9020 is a fantastic watch, but a steep investment...

Adding Ref 2499 to my collection

Reference 2499 ??? But thats a Patek, so am I in the wrong forum?? Well, not quite. While I very much admire the Patek 2499, its a watch living in dreamland. Fortunately, GP also made a Ref 2499 and in fact this GP Reference is almost equally rare, esp....

The dial is sublime. A superb decoration.

Still, I have a question.... What is the difference between the Ref 2598 and 2499, dial and hands apart? The bezel is larget, on the 2598, too. But the case is identic on obth of these references, no? Impressive collection you have, my friend. Best, Nicol...

Difference

 By: crown comfort : October 27th, 2014-01:39
Yes, the bezel is higher but otherwise the case is the same. There is another difference though, the 2598 has a central chronograph minute counter and the subdial at 9'o clock is a 24 hour display. The 2499 is more the traditional layout with a 30min chro...

it's really nice in the flesh, the Guilloche dial that's more grey than black is not coming across on photos very well. Cheers, CC ...

Great watch!

Thank you for all the effort you put into this message. I´ve been moderately looking for a nice example of a ref. 9012, the rattrapante sibling for some time. Now I´m torn. Your pictures are sublime. This dial texture and the applied numbers are taking ov...

That's a great analogy and so true

 By: crown comfort : October 28th, 2014-14:10
thanks for your kind words. Yes, Ref 2499 is quite rare, esp. with the black dial. In the catalogue, they only ever showed the white dial. Ref 2498 with date and third subdial is much more common in white and black dial. Because of the Guilloche, the whit...

Venus? [nt]

 By: amanico : October 28th, 2014-22:59

Yes. There was a batch

Of 50 Venus 179 that were found and auctioned off. GP got about 35 of them. Panerai got most of the rest. The GP 9017 with the Venus 179 movement was completely refinished by GP and supposed did the best of it too.

ref. 9014 too?

I´m always impressed by your collection, CC. Great taste you show! You must be one of the greatest GP collectors around. Really appreciate your insights into this manufacture. As of your collection, I know you have an SF foudroyante (ref. 9020) as well. T...

Just gorgeous!

Not my favorite either.

This 38mm case as used on the ref. 9014 could be gentler IMHO. Too 90´s for me. Source: Jacob L Sorry about the confusion on the foudroyante. Thought I´d seen a post of yours on that piece. Thank you! Ramon ...

Nothing wrong with the 90ties ;)

 By: crown comfort : October 30th, 2014-00:17
my issue with the 9014 is the dial. The gold dauphine hands are not a good match IMO. The other downside is the movement, it is really ugly, if you ever get to see it. Maybe you have seen my black dial 4946 which looks a bit similar to the black 9020. Che...

The black Guilloche dial is just stunning!
