Girard Perregaux

Friends, Have you ever wondered why Girard-Perregaux used to call their watches Gyromatic? If you have you might find this sketch interesting. Look at the left hand side; you see the two GYRO-WHEELS (1488). Gyro + Matic hence the automatic movement. Next ...  

Blomman 'Gyromatic' is one of those words heard so often that it becomes familiar and you sort of know so well. Then, you are asked where it comes from.....Silence. :-) Bottom line is that I did not know really. Now I do. If only someone could tell me why...

I would not have guessed that but then again, my grammar is English-based but I suppose that in French that would make sense......just date. "I drove a red car" vs. "An automobile rouge, drove I". Thanks, MTF
