Some quick thoughts and pictures on the Gyromatic " Arrows ".

Last December, I introduced you this lovely Gyromatic " Arrows ", which was brought to me by a friend from the US.
This is a superb example of the Gyromatic, and probably ( I don't know all of them ) one of my favourite, due to the lack of date.
The case has a diameter of 34 mm, but in the real, it rather looks 35, 36 mm, due to the important aperture of the dal and the absence of a bezel.
Does it look that small? I don't think so!
The originality, on this version, lies in the applied hour markers, especially those at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o' clock which are arrow shaped. and of course the cross hair on the silver soleillé finish of the dial.
A beauty:
The thin Dauphine hands adds some extra elegance, in my opinon. I just have to find a correct minute hand, which is a solved problem, already, but I will have to do a small trip for that, and will post the definitive outcome, once the replacement is done.
You will also notice the thin and drilled lugs, ehancing the dressy character of this time keeper.
The case back is screwed, and signed inside.
Another nice detail is the domed small and signed crown. Not very easy to wind, but how elegant!
As for the movement, I saw two kind of finishings, the gilt and no gilt.
Mine is gilt, and signed, of course, with the GXM mention telling that it was imported to the US.
I found very few informations about this Gyromatic, except what Roberto wrote about it.
My guess is that it is a watch from the Sixties, a guess based on the aesthetics, which can be seen on other creations from this era, such as some JLCs, Ulysse Nardin and so on.
What I know is that it is not a watch you often see. This is the second one I saw in several years. I missed the first one, I didn't miss this one!
I prefer no date watches, with a purer / cleaner dial, in my opinion.
A last word on its accuracy: I tested it for several weeks.
At the beginning of our common life, it ran too slow: 40 seconds per day.
But the good thing is that it was regular. So I tried to set it by myself, and now it runs 3 seconds too slow per day, which is more than acceptable!
It is my first Vintage Girard - Perregaux, and, obviously, not the last one.
But it will take time, as the nice ones are pretty tough to find, in good condition, and authentic.
Best to all.
