Vintage 1945 Large Date, Moon-Phases, Mechanics of Art Deco Pink Gold

By: blomman Mr Blue : December 20th, 2014-02:51
Friends, I think many of us got captured by the Vintage 1945 with Sapphire dial! We already had a detailed look on the Steel version, now I thought we should have a closer look on the Pink Gold version. The Pink gold adds some more color to the watch. But...

I still prefer the steel. BUT the rose gold is a top cool version, too.

I surprised myself to love it a lot, which is, indeed, a big surprise for me. Best, Nicolas

You are coming around, my friend! :)

By: blomman Mr Blue : December 20th, 2014-02:57
You see, there is room for colored metal in our collections as well! :) Honestly, I am a bit surprised here. Was sure I would prefer the Steel, but after looking at the Gold version in real.... Best Blomman

Would you really choose this one in RG over the SS?

 By: amanico : December 20th, 2014-03:03
Let's say it another way... If SS didn't exist, I would think about getting this one in RG. Best, Nicolas

If SS didn't exist.....

By: blomman Mr Blue : December 20th, 2014-10:21
The choice would be much easier! ;) Best Blomman

That would be my initial thought as well....

But, not before I have completed my "three step" plan in the modern GP field.... Best Blomman

Hope you are right! ;)

The SS version without any doubt

The concept of see-through dial and the contemporary style work much better with a neutral colour imho. Thanks for the post Blomman. Fx

I am torn here....

By: blomman Mr Blue : December 20th, 2014-10:21
Think both works great! Thank you, Fx! Best Blomman

The RG version looks nicer IMHO

The dial seems more alive, contrast more obvious and the moonphase is definitely nicer. Overall a warmer and more "romantic" look. The steel version looks more technical and also very nice of course. The RG version pips it in my view Great pics and report...

Romantic! Thank you, that was the word....

By: blomman Mr Blue : December 20th, 2014-10:23
I was looking for! :) Agree, Robin! But the question is if romantic take over..... OK, so far 2 - 1 for the Steel... Thank you, my friend Best Blomman

RG - The moon phase really pulled me in.

Also, I think the contrast of the gold hands and numerals give more depth overall. Steel in the photo is cool, but perhaps too cool for me.

OK, 2 - 2!

By: blomman Mr Blue : December 20th, 2014-10:24
So, it is a tie so far! :) Agree on the contrast. Best Blomman

Steel for me [nt]

One more Steel - thank you! [nt]

SS dangling carrot for me. [nt]

Your 2015 Goal...?! :)

By: blomman Mr Blue : December 20th, 2014-10:26
Hope you will get it, Raymond! :) Best Blomman

I hope so...but my boss says no more watches for next 2 years :(...

 By: Clueless_Collector : December 20th, 2014-11:34
she did also said that in 2012 when I got my BP...then 2013 when I got the GP :) I hope you get your dream watch(es) in 2015 too, Blomman. Rgds Raymond

LOL! [nt]

For me still SS.. But this RG one is a quite tempting offer.. And.,..

 By: hs111 : December 20th, 2014-14:17
.. the RG enhances the 3D effect and the moon indication; however, it increases the " Bling" quite a bit ! Wearing such a XXL- block of gold, may not be everyone's choice.. - Fascinating, nevertheless.. Best & HAGWE ! hs

True, not everybody's choice.....

By: blomman Mr Blue : December 21st, 2014-02:18
Full gold - not everybody can pull that off! ;) All the best for the weekend, my friend! Blomman

great pieces both but

 By: ongch : December 20th, 2014-17:22
Dear Blomman, SS for me. It feels as if the bling factor for the rose gold would eventually wear away. That watch model deserves to be worn often just bcoz it's so cool.

Yes, this is a super cool watch! :)

By: blomman Mr Blue : December 21st, 2014-02:20
Thank you for your input, Ongch! Best Blomman

tried on a 1945 chronograph at an AD the other day...

 By: iadxb : December 29th, 2014-11:49
And totally fell in love with the shape of the case. It grasped my wrist as if it was tailor made for me, and can't wait to try the sapphire dial big date version! SS for me; although the rose gold version is more colorful and animated. Perhaps I would ha...

The Chrono is top. I own the small one from the early 2000's.

 By: amanico : December 29th, 2014-11:57
The size is right, for me, but I wouldn't mind adding the " Sapphire " in stainless steel. That Watch is pure Madness. A strong offer, and one of the lights from this year to end. Best, Nicolas

cannot agree more with you Nico...

 By: iadxb : December 29th, 2014-12:42
... what was the last time you saw a truly innovative design in such a simple execution? GP 1945 sapphire dial is certainly the way to go, kudos to the creative geniuses behind it...

I am kind of crazy for that design...

 By: amanico : December 29th, 2014-12:46
Like this one... ...

I concur

 By: iadxb : December 29th, 2014-13:03
Though personally I'd still go for the 1945 GP, this one is equally, if not more, impressive...

They are not playing in the same league.

 By: amanico : December 29th, 2014-13:35
This round one is a minute repeater. But aesthetically speaking, both are terrific. Best, Nicolas

Welcome here, Iadxb!

Happy to hear you discovered the Vintage 1945! :) The fit on wrist is just like a glove. Love how the case follows your wrist! Yes, the Sapphire dial is just amazing. Please let us know once you have tried it on your wrist! Best Blomman
