Fantastic pictures What camera and lens do you use..? More pics please, Andy.

Thanks.

The majority were shot with a Nikkor 50mm f 1.2 (manual focus) on a D800 body, which IMHO is the greatest street photography lens ever made by a company other than Leica. A few were shot with a Nikon 50mm 1.4D. The portrait you like was shot with a Nikon ...

That's quite a range of lenses.....

Some great observational work there....very impressive. With regards the portraits and people in the main view in a picture....do you ask permission for the photo...? Or ask them after if they approve of the picture..? Andy.

Better to ask forgiveness than permission.

With the 50mm the camera is quite discrete, often unnoticed, and it\'s over quite fast. With the zoom I can shoot from further away and stay unnoticed (though I prefer the 50 for sharpness and perspective).

Also, I only carry one lens at a time. I'll choose one depending on what I'll be doing that day and the concepts I have in my head based on what I expect to see.

And, if I expect to be active or don\'t want to carry a heavy lens I\'ll take the 50mm which is generally my go to lens.

Some really great photos, Descartes! [nt]

actually I was in the film and camera buildings, but walked through the Shinjuku East (Main) building 1F just to browse. Another enjoyable "Tokyo" series... for some reason the individual in the first photo seems familiar. I have always been attracted to ...

Finding and getting the shots that really bring out the atmosphere and the vibes that exemplifies the dynamics of Tokyo. Bravo!

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Unfortunately, I crapped out hunting vintage watches in Tokyo (I had high hopes to find a Seiko 62 MAS), but the street photography opportunities were a bonanza over the course of only a couple days after my business meetings had concluded.
