Thanks for the review

Blomman, I enjoyed the perspectives that you took with the three models. I would lean towards the white gold, but for large dates, my favs are the old evo and square vintage 45.
Thanks
Chris

Friends, As announced yesterday, here is the review of the GP 1966 Large Date with Moon Phases! I would like to start to say the following: please don’t be too quick to judge this watch and dismiss it as yet another classic looking date/moon phase watch! ...

I quite like the clean look of the white gold.

I kind of like this emptiness of the dial, I must say. Yes, I would like to see GP working on a more coherent ratio between their cases and movements, especially on the automatic ones, but I like this one ofr what it is. Will I buy it? No. I have other ta...

I agree that it would be great move of GP to ....

Have a base caliber foe each case size. But I guess that would require a lot of development... On the other hand, as long as the case opening on the back show as much as on this watch, I don't mind that much the smaller movement. What I do object to is wh...

No complaints from my end :)

I really like this novelty. If it comes with a date, why not make it readable forthe short-sighted ;) I think the large date mechansim from GP is the best solution that exists without visible discs or worse, framed windows (no names ;)) I prefer this vers...

Between this one and the full calendar....

My choice is this one! :) Especially considering the time only I already have... Love the hands - will go more into details in my on-the-wrist review. Best, my friend Blomman

Same here,

would go with the Big Date rather than the Full Calendar. What would be really interesting to compare it with its real predecossor the Ref 49530. CC

Funny you should ask....

I was just comparing photos in my archive with the 49530! The 49530 case is one millimeter smaller, 40 mm. But the case is not as refined as the GP 1966 case, IMO. Another interesting detail is the lack of "Automatic" on the dial - I for one can't say tha...

There are about 10 years between these watches and design has evolved. The case of 1966 is more refined, agreed. The 49530 ain't that shabby either ;) One detail I like very much on the 49530 is the Roman 12 and 6 on the dial. Obviously there were more me...

Very similar but still....

Different! For me the Roman XII and XI is a less preferred configuration... Best Blomman

I have no complaints with this one

I think it is a well balanced and a very nice looking watch, especially the iteration in WG. Great views from a distance and close ups, it really shows the character that GP intended for it as you\'ve mentioned. Looks to be quiet and loud at the same time...

My pleasure, Richard!

"Loud" with a classic finesse! :) Will post a even closer look soon, my friend. Best Blomman

I like the look of the Girard-Perregaux 1966 Large Date - Great Review.

And I understand the aesthetics of adding the text automatic for balance. Without the text it is true it would be a little empty. However, I would have opted for a model name or something more memorable. As to the overall look of the watch it is big bold ...

Much appreciated, Bill!

Yes, one by one - some of the details may look "out of place" but together they make the perfect blend of classic and bold in the same watch! :) Best, my friend Blomman

Actually we are all appreciative of your great review

The good thing with GP is that....

Once you know which complication you are after, then there are many options between the different lines! :) Thank you, Chris! Best Blomman

Really nice & balanced review + superb pics, needless to say.. Like the dominating big date & the character of the pronounced moon-phase..

Well readable indices & balanced appeal to me.. On the size issue & for the movement, it doesn\'t bother too much. - My humble personal pref would be the WG, I guess. Appears to nicely complement the GP 1966 offering. Thx for this nice pictorial & share !...

Exactly, HS! :)

I find this a perfect compliment to the GP 1966 line, elegant, classic, sober.... And now also bold and more eye catching! :) Best Blomman
